Five days a week I open a cafe in downtown Montreal, through a haze of sleep these pre dawn bus rides take me into a different world. Most mornings, if I am not too asleep I find myself looking into alleyways and nooks, down side streets and into parks. What I have come to realise is that the night is not as sinister as we sometimes feel, at this time it can be a place of magic and inspiration. It is a world on the edge of destruction, though soon the warm sun will bring a new day and pull me back into reality.

The purpose of these photographs is to show how night, and overall darkness, can be a tool of transformation, morphing everyday mundane locales, usually busy with life and energy into haunting landscapes, ripe with untold stories and hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. I attempted to use, when possible, wide angles to relay a feeling of grandeur and solitude.

Some of these photographs are only blue prints for pieces that I am currently planning for the summer.
